We have had a lot of fun the past two weeks. William had two long weekends in a row...one for President's day and then one for the change of command in his squadron. My mom and Jim came down last week and hung out with us for about a week in Florida. We celebrated my mom's birthday and the girls turned 10 months on the same day. The girls were able to spend quality time with them which was great. My mom slaved away trying to make pillows for our couch. She stayed up late and finished and they look great! Thanks mom.
We packed up on Saturday and headed up to Birmingham to have the girls baptized. We chose to do it in the church William grew up in and it went great! The girls wore a replica of the gown William's grandfather wore. The original is in really bad shape so William's aunt had them remade by her cousin and of course she had to make two. We were a little concerned about the fact we waited until the girls were 10 months old to have them baptized...we weren't quite sure if they would go to the minister. Stranger anxiety has certainly set in and they do cling to us now, however they are quick to warm up. The minister met us in the bride's room where we were dressing the girls to meet us and say a prayer. Once we met, I was at ease. He was such a soft spoken, tender, dear, kind man and Ellie did not take her eyes off of him. Once in front of the church, he took Ellie first and baptized her. He walks about halfway down the aisle to show her off to the congregation. Ellie had the hiccups throughout the whole ceremony and while he was holding her she was so close to his microphone that they were very audible. Needless to say the whole congregation was laughing. Lindley Kate went next and she went to him just as easily. The whole ceremony was perfect and we were just relieved we didn't have any screamers on our hands! Afterwards we met back at my in-law's house and had a brunch with much of William's family and fortunately both my mom and Jim and Dad and Julie came down to Bham for the ceremony. It was a fun day and William's mom went out of her way for the party with lots of good food, yummy cake, and pretty flowers.
We are back in Florida and my dad made the trek back with us and is visiting here for a few days and hanging out with the girls! I need to post their 10 months photos so more to come later!
Friday night, out at La Paz....G.G. and Ellie having a fun time!
